Dance Competition
On Tuesday 27th November, a group of Mapledown pupils joined Oak Lodge pupils to take part the first heat of a Dance Barnet Initiative, run by Step Change Studios session. Dance Barnet provides opportunities for disabled people and people with long term health conditions to participate in dance, and promotes inclusive dance, supporting more disabled people to be active. The Mapledown pupils were exceptional and all performed beautifully. They all auditioned at the end of a fun workshop and received feedback from the judges, who are professional dancers. Everyone received a certificate, and one of our students was announced as a finalist! He received a trophy, and will progress to the next stage: he will receive 1:1 lessons a few weeks before taking part in a grand final at the Arts Depot in May. We are very proud of all the participants!
