Headlines for School Improvement 2019 -2020

Leadership

Ensure that the school systems and processes are aligned to the new Ofsted Inspection Framework that will come into effect in September 2019. We will update and re-write our SEF in the autumn term

Continue to build the knowledge and skills base of our Governing Body so that they can offer ongoing challenge and support to the school. 

With the planned retirement of the Headteacher in summer 2020 we need to recruit a new Headteacher in the autumn term. The new Head and Leadership Team will review the leadership structure and division of responsibilities across the school.

Learning

Track the Rochford Report Pilots to ensure that we stay abreast of any new arrangements for, assessment, target setting and improving our curriculum offer for. Meanwhile we will maintain our existing systems for assessing, target setting, monitoring, evaluating, analysing and reporting on Pupil Progress.

Systems, Process & Policy

Achieve the Healthy School Gold Award. (December 2019)

Achieve the Bronze International Schools Award. (December 2019)

Re-accredit for the Green Flag Schools Award (Summer 2019)

Re- accredit for the Gold Artsmark Award (Feb 2020)

Resources

Work with the ‘Friends of Mapledown’ to identify and gain funds for additional resources. This year’s main projects are to update/upgrade our pupils’ communication devices. eg switches and ipads and replace our oldest Sunshine Bus (£14k required).

People

To continue to promote work-life balance and staff wellbeing.

Support ‘growth from within’ and promote internal talent.
