Objects of Reference

Objects of Reference (OOR) are used with pupils who are functioning at a very early level of development. Often these pupils will have additional multi-sensory impairments and need the tactile (touch) feedback that an object can provide. OOR are used to help a student anticipate new activities and can eventually be used to help a student to make meaningful choices.

E.g. timetable based objects of reference to represent a particular subject (e.g. a large dice =maths) or for a more personalised object of reference an armband may be used for a pupil who goes swimming.
