Gold Artsmark award!

Mapledown School are extremely proud to have once again been awarded a Gold Artsmark award! We were given fantastic feedback from the assessors which you can read below. Well done to all of the staff who work hard to ensure such a rich provision and the students for being so wonderfully creative!

'The arts are valued at Mapledown School and the arts curriculum and other subjects are delivered through a range of partnerships with arts organisations including Live Music Now, Flamingo Chicks Ballet, WAC arts, Icandance and Finchley Arts Depot as well as by music and arts specialists on staff. A new curriculum has been created with a focus on art. Strong structural partnerships that support other settings are in place with Barnet Cultural Education Partnership and BEAT (Barnet Education Arts Trust). All staff take responsibility for arts and cultural provision and there is whole setting planning for arts and culture. Children and young people's art is showcased and displayed effectively. Your curriculum demonstrates an understanding of, and a commitment to establishing, high-quality arts and cultural provision that connects subjects and learning outcomes across all phases and links to the whole setting's pedagogy. You have established arts and cultural provision that makes sure all children and young people have opportunities to perform, see live performances, and to create and evaluate artworks in a range of media. You provide in house CPD for all staff, some delivered in partnership with BEAT, and have offered CPD opportunities to other settings via BEAT, Finchely Arts Depot and Barnet Cultural Education Partnership. Congratulations on your Artsmark Gold Award!"
