Announcement

Deputy Headteacher David Aarons

June 3rd 2019

Dear Parents,

I am writing to you to let you know that our much loved Deputy Headteacher David Aarons died in his sleep last night. David had been living with a brain tumour for almost two years and was only 54 years old. David was an incredible person and a tireless professional. He started work at Mapledown in 1994 and has been our Deputy since 2003.

David’s death is a huge loss for us – professionally and emotionally – he was renowned for his dedication and enthusiasm and came to work with a smile on his face no matter what. Everyone at school will be affected by his loss but we are also reminded that David never faltered and we will honour him by continuing to work like him and to do our best for every pupil at Mapledown.

The funeral is likely to be on Wednesday, June 5th but we don’t have the details yet. If you would like to attend the funeral please check the school website for details.

Yours Sincerely

Steve Carroll
